August Birthstone

August has three birthstones Peridot , Spinel & Sardonyx.

• Peridot is known for its lime and olive hues and transparency. It's often found in hardened lava from Earth's mantle and meteorites from outer space, and can also be found in ancient lava fields in Arizona and Hawaii. Peridot's signature green color comes from the mineral's composition, and shades can vary depending on the amount of iron present. In ancient Egypt, peridot was associated with light and called the "gem of the sun". They also believed it could protect against nightmares and evil spirits. 
• Spinel comes in many colors, including gray, warm tones, and cool tones. Some believe that spinel can protect its owner from harm, soothe sadness, and promote physical vitality. It's also said to help with recovery from illness and disease, and reduce forgetfulness.
• Sardonyx has alternating layers of neutrals, reds, and oranges, which some say resembles zebra stripes
